LEARNING GOAL: Set classroom expectations. DO NOW: Business Card! Get a card from Mike. On the front, write your name. Draw a film production logo for your hypothetical film company. (Also, don't forget your "assignment" on Google Classroom from last week.) CIRCLE OF VIEWPOINTS: Classroom Expectations
Recap: What has been the conversation so far?
THINK/PUZZLE/EXPLORE: Notebook Page #1 Date your notebook page (9/11/2023). Watch a student video together as a class. Think = What reactions and responses do you have to this video? Puzzle = What questions would you want to ask the filmmakers? Explore = What does this make you want to explore during this semester? LEARNING GOAL: Get to know each other and collaborate on classroom expectations.
DO NOW: Sample Assignment in Google Classroom. What is your favorite movie? Create a document, and submit it to this assignment. (If you cannot think of a favorite movie, let me know a movie you like, or the last movie you saw. I am interested in things that have stuck in your mind, but I am currently *more* interested in seeing that you know how to submit assignments via Google Classroom.) PLAY: Everybody Who 1. Make it a nice wide circle of chairs. 2. One volunteer player will stand in the middle and state their name and a statement that is true about them. 3. If you feel that statement is true about you as well, stand up and find a new chair. 4. Because the volunteer did not have a chair to start with, there will be one person left without a chair. This person starts the process again by saying something a true statement about themself. Anyone who is standing must immediately find a new chair to sit in, and the process repeats. CIRCLE OF VIEWPOINTS: 1. You will receive a sheet of paper asking you to think about classroom expectations from a specific perspective. Other students will have other perspectives. Answer the questions on your sheet. 2. Find the other students with your same sheet, and compare notes. 3. Discuss as a whole class.
