Draw a line down the middle of a large piece of paper, dividing it into two parts On one half, write what you have been learning in your academics (This should include specific content as well as overarching ideas or skills) On the other half, write things that we have learned about in Video Production. (Specific content as well as overarching ideas or skills.) CONNECT Discuss connections and draw lines connecting the concepts/skills/ideas that are similar or could fit together between seminar and academic classes. Example: A line would be drawn on the paper between the “perspectives” from social studies and the perspectives in Storytelling. SORT Use post-it notes to sort the seminar skills/big ideas and those of the academic classes by commonalities Example, one piece of paper could be “Storytelling and Social Studies,” another could be, “Songwriting and Science,” and list the commonalities. ELABORATE For each sorting category: Explain why the connection exists Discuss possible project ideas that could come from that connection For example, Storytellers could develop stories that convey the different perspectives we are looking at in Social Studies (historical people or perspectives on moral/ethical issues).
