Do Now: Set a Goal In your PBlock journal, open to the first available page. Headline the Page: Research goals. Today’s entry:
ABC’s of research: Section A: Research | Weekly Log Step 1. Write a guiding question as a target for research today into today’s entry for Research | Weekly Log (from Driving Question Document or generate new) Step 2. Find a source to read that helps answer that question (article, website, etc). Write down the website name and the article name. Step 3. Read the source, then quick jot things that connect or you might utilize in your project (facts, quotes, etc) Section B. *go to ELA packet* Step 4. Answer the question prompts in your ELA packet about your source. Section C. *Go to Easybib* Step 5. Create a new citation. -Copy and paste your url. -Click “add annotation” -Synthesize what you wrote in your ELA packet into a paragraph for your Easybib Annotated bibliography Studio Time: Follow the process of the ABC’s of Research. Do Now: Go Around Share out ONE question you are investigating for your project. Studio Time: Continue with Guided Inquiry. Find answers for the question you shared at the beginning of class. Ticket Out: Go Around In five words or less, share some new knowledge you gained during your guided inquiry. Learning Goal: Communicate your project idea through metaphor
Do Now: CSI As a school, we value finding multiple ways to think and communicate, and this can include abstract thinking Think metaphorically about your topic. Link to Digital Color: We often connect colors with emotions, actions, and things. What color represents your topic? Symbol: A symbol is a simple object. What is one symbol that embodies your topic? Image: Think of pausing a movie about your topic. What would we see on screen? Be sure to write some notes supporting why you made each of the decisions above. Do Next: On the back of your CSI, draw a picture of your topic that includes your color, your symbol, and your image. Use the whole sheet. Your picture can be direct or abstract. Studio Time: Identify a question, and continue your research. Ticket Out: Share out! You will share ONE aspect of your CSI. You can share the color, symbol, image or the picture that includes all three. Be ready to provide a brief description. LEARNING GOAL: Balance disciplinary research with academic research.

DO NOW: Source Search (5 minutes) Start class by looking for another preliminary research source that might be useful for you. After a 5-minute search, we will share out 1. What is the name of your source? 2. Why does it look relevant to your project? 3. How do you know it’s a valid source? GOAL SETTING: What section of the proposal are you working on first today? STUDIO TIME: Proposals are due at the end of class today. Please finish and submit through Google Classroom. TICKET OUT: Submit your proposal! Do Now: Question Starts

Generate at least 10 Questions about your topic. Studio Time: Completed Proposals = Conference with Mike When you are not conferencing, continue with guided inquiry, answering your questions.
