DO NOW: Table Talk LISTENING 10X2: Listen to the commercial. Step 1 --> List at least ten things that you hear (try to be as descriptive as possible: I.e.: Young adult male voice) Step 2 --> List what things the ad wants us to think about or know. (list INFORMATION, it can be taken from the dialogue) Step 3 --> SAME and DIFFERENT. What things are similar, or different from another version of their ad campaign? STUDIO TIME: Find a company that has an Ad Campaign that has MULTIPLE radio commercials to choose from. FInd 3 commercials that have a DISTINCT similarity that follows the company's campaign. (catch phrase, musical RIFF, etc)

LEARNING GOAL: Re-track introductions.
DO NOW: Vocal Warm Up RE-TRACK: Anyone without a 26-34 second introduction will re-record. PLAY: Song Chain If time allows, we're going to attempt a "game." One DJ will introduce a song, and play it. While listening, if you can think of a song that connects to it, raise your hand. We will fade the song out and let someone introduce the next song, including the connection they are making. Repeat. LEARNING GOAL: Bring the station time closer to +/-0.
DO NOW: Go-Around (standing circle around the inner tables. What part of your introduction do you feel most proud of? HEAR/THINK/WONDER: Listen to one introduction from yesterday. Compare it with the interview questions that led to the introduction: What is your favorite video game and what is it about? Tell me about your siblings/hobbies/parents. Tell me about your favorite movie genre. How did you come to start school at Etude?/Why did you come to Etude? If you could choose to go to any restaurant for dinner, where would you go and why? What is your guilty pleasure? If you could meet any celebrity, who would you meet and why? What’s your opinion on NFTs? Is it milk and then cereal or cereal then milk and why? TURN & TALK: What is the process of turning interview questions into a short introduction? DISCUSS: Why is the 30 second target important for a radio station? STUDIO TIME: Revise. Some of our introductions were very on target. Some were over/under. As a station we were under time, so we all need to work together to hit our collective target. If you were within 5 seconds, please pair up with someone who wasn't and help them hit the mark. Use the suggestions from the Do Now. LEARNING GOAL: Practice recording.
DO NOW: Take 5 minutes to finish/practice your introduction. PRESENT/RECORD: Everyone will present their introduction, and we'll keep a running list of who's on/over/under. Pin the wireless microphone near your shirt collar. REFLECTION: If your introduction is over or under, what can be done to adjust to get to the right time? LEARNING GOAL: Write for a timing requirement. DO NOW: Calling Cards Design a card that includes your name, an image, and at least one of the following: 1. Imaginary station name. 2. ASSIGNMENT: Our first assignment is to record an introduction with a randomly assigned partner in class. You will need to interview them to learn enough information to fill a 30 second introduction.
