MONDAY: Choose & Describe Artifact #3 Gathering Prompt: Weather Report. How is your week going to be? Whole Group - Review Artifacts: Review the list of potential artifacts. Ask students which artifact they chose for their first academic artifact. Ask what they plan to choose for the second one before they head back to their seat. You may want to briefly review the example artifact explanation before heading into independent time. Independent: Today you should link in and describe your third artifact! Remember to answer the questions in complete sentences so you can delete the questions after. If you prefer to use bullet points, include sentences in the presenter notes. Ticket Out: Share your progress toward POL Planning! TUESDAY: Grade Tracker Goal Setting SAMPLE AGENDA Gathering: Circle Up. Share something you need to accomplish this week. SMART Goal Setting: Use your grades and or the list of upcoming deadlines on the board to inform your SMART Goal for the week. If you have lower than a 3 in a class, use the dropdown menu to explore why and what you could revise/complete to improve that grade. If you have all 3s, you could make a SMART Goal around trying to reach advanced in a course OR a habit you are working on improving. You should have this bookmarked already, but here is the SMART Goal Setting Template if you need it. Ticket Out: Share your goal statement with the group! I will write each person's goal on the board so we can refer back to them throughout the week. Chris's advisory will pair up with Mikes POL Planning: Challenge/Explore Circle Up! Gathering: If you could change one thing about your habits this year so far that you think would have made you more successful, what would it be? POL Planning: Today you will reflect on a challenge you have had this year, as discussed in the POL. You can do this reflection on Slide 11 of your POL Planner. We will review the instructions together on slide 10. Once you are done, delete the instructions. Independent: Reflect on your challenge and goals moving forward (slide 11 of POL Planner). Ticket Out: Share your "plan to improve" with the group! THURSDAY: POL Planning & Conferencing Gathering Prompt: Share a success you have had this week! Whole Group - Choose Thinking Routine & Catch up on POL Planning: Independent: Choose and enter your thinking routine into your PoL Planner. You can then go back and work to complete any sections of your PoL that you have not yet completed. During this time, I will be conferencing with students to share look at credits and help you with the grade/credit part of the POL Planner. Please bring your chromebook over when I call you! POL Planning - Writing Claims Gathering Prompt: Share a habit of professionalism that you feel was a strength for you so far this year! These habits include...
Independent: Write Claims: Use this time to change the sample claim and description on slide 5 to your claim! Ticket Out: Share your claim with the group! Go around and check each student's claim/help type if necessary! TUESDAY: PoL Planning - Artifact #1 Gathering Prompt: Share one project or piece of evidence from any of your classes that you feel like shows your best work. Whole Group: Today you will choose your first artifact to support your claim! All of the things people shared from the gathering are examples of artifacts. Here are options that each teacher has given as an artifact you could use to show your learning and growth from their class! Remember that artifacts should be an example of your best work and show evidence of learning that occurred over time. We will review the questions you need to answer and do an example of describing an artifact together, using the questions on the Artifact 1 slide of your POL Planner. (Model this process with your students - model writing complete sentences and deleting the questions) Independent: Choose your first artifact, link it in to your POL Planner, and begin to describe it using the prompting questions! If you are using a drive file as an artifact, make sure to change the link so anyone can view! Remember to write your answers in complete sentences and then delete the questions. WEDNESDAY: Advisory & Indie Lens Here is the schedule for this Wednesday due to Indie Lens Advisory 11:30 - 12:00 You will need to use the Indie Lens Viewing Guide for your discussion today! You may want to print pages 7-11 for students so they have a paper copy. Otherwise, make the information available on the projector or linked into your plans. Gathering Prompt: Where do you get your "news" from? How do you find out what is going on in our community or the world? Intro to Indie Lens Film - Storm Lake: Read through the Film Synopsis on page 7 of the guide. Ask students how they think this topic could be relevant to them or our community. If time remains, explore the background information section on pages 8/9 of the guide. Discussion Questions: After the film, we will have the opportunity to discuss what we saw with panelists. Here are some discussion questions to consider (pg 11). What questions are you most interested in? Pick out one or two to consider while we watch the film. I will ask you to share out after.
